Professional Learning

Opportunities

NIEA offers professional development opportunities through its annual convention, train the trainer modules, and more comprehensive school wide training events.

Attendees may purchase Continuing Education Units (CEUs) at the 55th Annual NIEA Convention & Tradeshow. The CEUs are made possible through a partnership with the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA).

Attendees applying for CEUs will need to purchase the credits when registering for the Convention.

Premium level members receive two CEUs at no cost as a benefit of membership.

  • Workshops are the only sessions that can be counted for continuing education purposes.

Activities which do not carry CEU credit include:

    • Opening and Closing General Session

    • Member meetings

  • The number of credits you earn is determined by the duration of the educational sessions you attend, 1 CEU = 10 workshop sessions. All workshops are 60 minutes, therefore 1 CEU = 10 hours of sessions.

  • 1 CEU = $35

    2 CEU = $70

  • In order to receive credit, participants must attend two or more full days of the convention and pre-convention workshops (or the equivalent number of conference sessions). You are responsible for tracking your own hours of attendance and documenting the hours as defined in the Assignment.

  • Write a short critical reflection of each workshop/seminar/course; all assignments need to be typed. For each include:

1.) The title of the session, date, time spent in the session (total hours), and presenter information.

2.) In a few sentences, describe the content of each session, and how it impacted your understanding of the topics presented.

3.) Please send all submissions to Dr. Casie Wise at cwise@niea.org.
