The National Indian Education Association strongly advocates for Native language education as a critical component of cultural preservation, identity, and academic success for Native students. NIEA supports policies, programs, and funding that promote the revitalization, maintenance, and teaching of Indigenous languages in schools and communities. The organization collaborates with tribes, educators, and policymakers to integrate Native languages into curricula, teacher training, and immersion programs, emphasizing the importance of linguistic sovereignty and community-driven education initiatives. Through these efforts, NIEA aims to empower Native youth and strengthen connections to their heritage.
