State Engagement
NIEA provides resources and guidance to support tribes and local communities as they collaborate with state governments. The partnerships formed between local communities and states are foundational relationships that can create, and alter, established education systems that support and address the holistic needs of Native students. NIEA’s state work includes: (1) focused attention and monitoring of education issues to engage states with high Native populations and (2) providing resources, technical assistance, and training to Native education advocates.
