NIEA WEBINAR SERIES

March 2019 – Read Across America – Book Club Webinar

#NotYourPrincess

Summary:

Grab your coffee and cuddle up with NIEA and #NotYourPrincess: Voices of Native American Women, edited by Lisa CharleyBoy and Mary Beth Leatherdale. Let’s talk perceptions of Native American women and girls and the ever present and forever annoying princess stereotype in a one-of-a-kind book club experience. Join our host NIEA’s very own Diana Cournoyer, Amanda Tachine, book club facilitator, from the American Indian College Fund, and Sedelta Oosahwee, book club panelist, from the National Education Association.

#NotYourPrincess, winner of the American Indian Library Association’s Youth Literature Award, is a collection of short stories, essays, poems, and beautiful awe inspiring illustrations from Native women geared towards a young adult audience.

This episode of NIEA’s quarterly book club will take place on March 12, 2019 at 2 pm Eastern Time (set your calendar alarms accordingly). If you can’t make it be sure to check the NIEA website for this episode and past book club episodes.

Our book club pick goes perfectly with java, great conversation and these March highlights!
