ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP FORM Go back to the main Convention Page Scholarship application is due September, 19, 2009. Only Until the Scholarship Application is Due/Postmarked. Awarded to post-secondary American Indian, Alaskan Native, or Native Hawaiian (AI/AN/NA) students who are enrolled full-time pursuing an associate, bachelor, master, or doctoral degree. Nominees must demonstrate leadership qualities, maintain high academic achievement, serve as a role model for other students, and show creativity in commitment in the following areas: 1) promote an understanding and an appreciation of AI/AN/NH culture in an educational setting; 2) demonstrate positive, active leadership in student affairs; 3) demonstrate and/or encourage student involvement in educational or community activities; and/or 4) achieve his or her educational goals and objectives. Scholarships may be used for educational expenses not covered by other funding sources. Scholarship nominee does not need to be a member. Only nominators need to be members. Please ensure your nomination documents include: A one-page statement written by nominee, highlighting educational and community achievement. Biographical Resume; examples of work and resume must be written as nominee would like published in program. Two letters of recommendation (one from instructor), letters from family members will NOT be accepted Other supporting documentation (i.e., copies of awards, articles, etc.) A photo of nominee (color, head shot only). Please send a high resolution (300dpi) JPEG or PDF file. (Photos downloaded from website and prints from a color printer are not acceptable.) Or send a hard copy print to NIEA. Current official transcript(s). One copy is acceptable. A signed letter from the institution’s registrar or appropriate official verifying nominee’s full-time student status. Please submit one hard copy of all items including transcript and photo.
