Nevada Department of Education’s Annual American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Education Summit
March 21 @ 12:00 am - March 22 @ 12:00 am
We are delighted to invite you to the Nevada Department of Education’s Annual American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Education Summit, in partnership with the Truckee Meadow Community College (TMCC), the University of Nevada, Reno’s The Center, and the Nevada Indian Commission. Each of these highly respected entities are joining together to host the 12thAnnual AI/AN Education Summit. This year’s conference will be held on March 21-22, 2019, at TMCC, Dandini Campus, in Reno, Nevada. Moving this year’s venue location allows us to further engage all of our college and career pathways and further strengthen partnerships within our K-16 community. Since 2007, the Summit continues to bring educators together from across Nevada to discuss the state of Indian education in Nevada. This year we look forward to featuring engaging workshops for all who attend.
This year the conference theme is Equity: A Voice for All Students. The conference will be student-centered looking at the entire student; including academic and the social and emotional factors which ensures the wellness of a child. In addition, our discussion will provide insight on how these factors may lead to increased graduation rates and college and career. In light of the theme, students, as well as parents and families are also encouraged to attend and engage in this year’s Summit to participate in this important dialogue. High School students will have an opportunity to attend the youth summit simultaneous to the adult section.
The Nevada Public Health Foundation (NPHF) is assisting in the planning and organizing of this year’s event. To learn more about the event and register visit their website by clicking here.
